Musgrave Street District Command Unit

The design and construction of a 130,000sq ft District Command Unit in Belfast City Centre, incorporating a 50 cell custody suite and multi-storey car parking. The building is a multi-use occupancy with mixed rooms including public areas, custody and interview suites, medical facilities, sports facilities, catering and dining facilities and administration. The building conveys the characters of a modern building, incorporating low carbon design. The building comprises of multi storey steel frame with insitu concrete floors, precast external walls panels clad with a mixture of stone and render finishes. The building incorporates low-carbon design, with heating and?cooling provided using a closed loop ground source heat exchanger, meaning there is no requirement for heating boilers or chiller & the overall efficiency is 475%.

The site was highly restricted which required deliveries to be co-ordinated outside normal working hours and?for a detailed Traffic Management Plan to be agreed with the PSNI senior management. All vehicles & drivers had to have security clearance in advance. The works were programmed so as not to affect the business continuity of the Client or its neighbours which included the Laganside Court Complex. To facilitate this, elements of the work were programmed outside normal working hours.
